Is Reality TV Reality?

I'm not exactly sure when the reality TV craze started, or with what program. Thinking back, I'm guessing it is between the "Real World" on MTV and "Survivor". Ever since those shows, there has been an exponential rise in the number of reality shows that have hit the airwaves.

A Journey to Madagascar - Pt. 6: The Drive to Toliara and the Paradisier Hotel

We woke on New Years Day just as it was getting light. Today was the day that we would drive back to Toliara, and then to Ifaty for a one night stay at the Paradisier Hotel. After we packed, we all gathered in the bar area with our gear for the trip back.

Kids Are Not for Everyone

Recently, I've seen and heard a lot about how great it is to have kids. I see women on TV shows say that their life wasn't complete until they have kids. I see posts by friends who gush about their kids and all their accomplishments.

A Journey to Madagascar - Pt. 5: The Plateau and Our Wedding in Itampolo

It was a beautiful morning when we woke up on the beach on New Years' Eve. The sky was clear blue and the temperature had still not crept into the triple digits. We crawled out of our tents and began looking around our campsite, as we hadn't seen it in daylight yet.

Reflections on the Presidential Election

Now that the McCain concession and Obama victory speeches have been given, I would like to give my perspective on the presidential race. First, I would like to say that I have followed this race with great interest.

An Unbiased Political Poll

OK, I don't know if anything like this has been posted here already, but I have been reading a lot of the political seeds and articles here recently and would like to take a poll.

When Cartoons Taught Us Something

When I was just a young lad, I loved Saturday mornings. I would always get up early, my mom or dad would make me a good breakfast, and I'd plop myself down in front of the tv for a few hours of cartoons.

A Journey to Madagascar - Pt. 4: The Southern Spiny Desert and Itampolo

We awoke at 5:30 am. I slept quite well considering that I have always had a problem sleeping when I'm hot. I guess we were all so tired from our first day that everyone slept well. It gets light very early in Madagascar during the summer.

Fay, Fay, Go Away, Come Again Another Day....

So, here I am again, in the midst of another major Florida storm. Tropical storm Fay has been trolling around Florida for about 4 days now, and it looks like it may be here through the weekend. The amount of rain she has dumped on the Central Florida area has been epic.

Father of 3 branded "pervert" - for taking pictures of his own children

A story from the UK, that could, and probably has, taken place in the US. Predator paranoia is everywhere. Now, people need to be concerned and look around before taking pictures of their own kids, lest they be branded a pedophile.

Instances Where Being Impolite Doesn't Pay

I just love articles like this with stories of people who don't know how to behave get what's coming to them. I particularly like the one about the rock star, since I really despise people who use the phrase "don't you know who I am?" Feel free to add your own story as well.
